The Pilgrims Progress
director Oliver Rose / venue St. James' Church, Muswell Hill
Superbly directed by Oliver Rose, this production spawned from the raw text, an adaptation by Clare Foster and the rehearsal room where much of the piece was devised.  I came onboard right at the start of casting so was able to ensure some great voices that I could write for. The sound design elements featured lots of recordings from rehearsals, and incidental music played on the organ at St James.  The actors were very involved in performing the music by way of guitars, flutes, ukes and percussion. Their primary role in the music was choral as there were many songs for soloists and group. Inspiration was largely from the Sacred Harp Hymn Book.  I was able to take the cast on an excursion to Hampstead for a Sacred Harp singing session. I was MD for all performances.
